Prof. N.J. Lygidakis, General Secretary of IASGO

Dear Colleagues,

I am more than pleased to participate in this outstanding scientific event focusing on the newest developments in the field of onco-surgery and onco-gastroenterology, organized by the Central Military Hospital, under the responsibility of Professor Miroslav Ryska and in close cooperation with the International School of Surgical Oncology (ISSO) and the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO).

I am fully convinced that today’s spread of medical knowledge and expertise beyond and above boundaries and frontiers is not just wanted and needed, but also reflects our responsibilities and our obligations not just for our national societies but also towards the international community.

I am privileged and proud that the surgical leadership in the Czech Republic shares in an absolute way the same principles as the IASGO and the ISSO regarding the value of globalization of the current achievements in the field of medicine and more particular, surgical oncology.

All of us in IASGO, with the most prominent Czech colleagues, are actively participating and determined to continue our strive for “Medicine beyond Frontiers” and “Health for All”.

I am fully convinced that through our close cooperation sooner or later we are going to reach our goal, one that mirrors our desire to replace pain and grieve with pleasure and hope and that will inspire our new generation of colleagues to continue this effort to further enhance our goals.

Very sincerely,

Prof. N.J. Lygidakis, MD, FACS, FRCST(H), FJSS(H)
Secretary General, IASGO
Executive Committee Member, ISSO
